Add a network place in vista

I want to expose the data on the SQL server to be able to change the default. It is not stored on the server, but in the SQL database. IE opens the default. As the SharePoint Admin I need to replace that file.

Click on "Computer" 2. Right-Click on the background 3. Choose "Add a Network Connection" 4. Choose "Next" then "Choose a custom network connection" 5. Enter the URL You'll figure it out from ther. Thank You! That is exactly what I needed. Now that I see it, it is logical in a Microsoft sort of way. I can get to all these sites using the browser, loading hyperlinks from my Home Page.

But I can't publish with Word to any of these sites. I am having the same problem. Lets hope someone can provide an answer. I have found out that this is a known problem with Vista. I have 2 towers running XP that have printers connected to them. I have 2 laptops running Vista - one laptop sees the other PCs and attached printers just fine, but the other laptop does not see the other PCs or printers.

I verified that the network sharing settings are correct and the laptop is set to be a "Private" network. Should the Vista laptop automatically see the other PCs within the Workgroup, or do I need to "add a network location" in order for the Vista laptop to see the other PCs and attached printers? I really just need the Vista laptop to be able to print to the networked printers It was always so simple using XP - Am I missing something? Can anyone help me with this? Thanks again This allows one to access them like bookmarked Web Folders where one can easily upload and download files using the Windows Explorer.

Enter the address of the remote server and click Next. For anonymous access change the username to anonymous and blank password Give the new network place a name it will become the name shown in the Web Folders , and click Finish. Enter the address of the remote server See the examples of how the paths should be entered and click Next If using WebDAV over SSL then use https instead of http If anonymous access check Log on anonymously else uncheck it and enter the account username and click Next Give the new network place a name it will become the name shown in the My Network Places , and click Finish.

Click Add a network place. The Add Network Place Wizard starts. Click Next to continue. Click Choose another network location , and then click Next.
