WindDrake Well-known member. Windows is fine. That's just a really dated PC, and Hyperspin is a graphical beast. Lots of Mame-cab experts over there. JODY Active member. If you haven't worked with Linux before I would stick with Windows.
Windows is just fine and more emulators and front end options exist for it than Linux. Hyperspin needs a lot of horsepower so don't expect it to run quick on an older PC. To help cleanup the PC, uninstalling unused programs may help some but most of the slowdown will be caused by files Windows creates in temp directories that will need to be cleaned up.
The easiest way would be to install something like CCleaner what I use and run the default options. You should notice a speed increase afterwards as well as getting back a lot of disk space.
You may download it from download. CCleaner is listed as the 4 most popular download on the website. It would probably also help to cleanup the registry which is a capability of CCleaner but is more risky. Probably low risk though if you plan on getting rid of installed software.
I just use the default options to clean up cache directories and history. Last edited: Oct 6, Shinjikun New member. Windows and Hyperspin is pretty straight forward. Most Emulators work with windows anyway and mame is easy to setup in windows. I've done all of that on my current pc. If you have questions about it, PM me. Currently I tore down an extreme hunting US Atomiswave no one will miss it, I promise and I'm ready to drill holes in the control panel.
I have a pc I got for free that will run windows 7 or xp. Really it will be great to run movies, games, and music. Oh yea, I got the cabinet for free. Edit: Make sure you have enough ram and your pc isnt too slow.
My high end pc worked fine but I haven't tried it on my free pc yet. Hyperspin is a monster, it has system requirements like a high end PC game. Windows XP is generally your best OS for mame on older hardware. Run a mame version between. Also, if the crappy horse racing board worked I will pay you shipping plus a few bucks for it, I have always had a thing for horse related arcade games, not sure why.

It's been running great for the past 10 years! Stick with something simple as playing the games are the most important factor, IMO. Here's a link to Game Launcher. It is discontinued development, but I think the development was just done. It's just perfectly simple IMO. I tried running an even newer version 0.
Thanks Paige. I would love to go to an older version but I seem to remember needing a newer version to use multiple mice as I have it set up to use three mice for inputs via the arduino. I may be missing something so I will keep digging around with that. I am SO close and never thought I would get stuck on setting up Mame and the frontend.
This is how she sits right now It's an option in mame. You are probably good up through the 's. I remember there being some changes around that resulted in a big performance hit. Actually even in the 's they had started handling the discrete sound differently and many games became more demanding. Since you are getting xinput errors, I googled when xinput was added to mame. Nothing definitive, but v. Okay, thanks Badmouth.
That is useful info. I went back to 0. I also switched dial input from keyboard to mouse. GameEx is available as a free or enhanced registered version. GameEx was created in and has been in active development ever since.
