The Curse Of Zone dramatic chord, lightning strikes, horse whinnies in the distance. It seems that more often than not, whenever we mention the name of a well-known personage, between the time the copy is edited and passed on for production and the actual printing of the magazine, said human suffers a major disaster. In the past we've tried to use this power only for good - usually by mentioning Jim Davidson as often as possible, but somehow the fiend is immune.
However, I'm taking it upon myself to invoke whatever power the voodoo gods have vested in us to rid ourselves of that modern blight on Formula One racing -Michael Schumacher. OK, so the man may be able to drive through an earthquake and still break lap records, but he shouldn't have cheated good, honest British drivers out ot victory two seasons in a row.
Hopefully, assuming our cabalistic powers are up to scratch, Schumacher will be exposed for cheating in Malaysia and dumped out of the Championship Unfortunately not - Up-To-The-Minute Ed.
The first thing I did on taking control of Ferrari in Ft Manager was to sack him and bring in good old Johnny Herbert it would have been Jensen Button, but the game starts at the '99 season, which is bloody annoying.
Stewart Racing still hasn't been taken over by Jaguar and Damon Hill is still mooching about at Arrows. Least I would have done, but sadly the game is not that open. Once you pick a team you're stuck with the drivers you're given for at least one season and can only negotiate with different choices for the following year.
Still, I hoped that by shunning Schumacher and refusing to listen to his emails he might get the message and bugger off on his own. A word about those emails: a year or so ago, I berated MicroProse's F1 management effort for its cumbersome front end. EA seems to have been listening, as there's a much more organised system here.
However, this is still an important update as news had gone very quiet since the initial discussion, with some fans fearing a delay. The deal, as reported by Eurogamer , is set to span both PC and consoles and currently runs to How this fits in alongside the F1 games from Codemasters will be particularly fascinating, after that series added a My Team managerial mode in Image source: Motorsport Images , Charles Coates.
In , right before F1 was released, Codemasters studios was bought by EA. Since Codemasters makes the F1 games, this means EA will now have a say about the direction of the F1 games going forward. If EA has new plans for the F1 games, they can only start from the F1 game going forward. That could affect the release date of the trailers and also that of the final game. There are a few things that we can almost guarantee will be in the game. We can also expect some new things to be added to the game.
That includes a new handling model, the Miami Street Circuit, sprint races and part 2 of the Braking Point story mode. This is because F1 will bring the biggest changes to the F1 cars in decades, which you can read more about here. TLDR; it will probably be more fun for you.
Tyre size will also increase from 13 inches to 18 inches, which means the car will look beautiful and futuristic out on track if they are your cup of tea, of course. Of course, the F1 game will follow the F1 calendar as close as possible. We already know that the F1 calendar will feature 23 races, including one new race in the United States.
This race will be in Miami, and Codemasters is likely to adapt this new track in their game as well. The circuit still has to be built up in real life though, and Codemasters will have to take some time to adapt it to their game as well.
Whether Codemasters will add this feature or not is not something we know yet though, but it seems easy for them to do so.
After all, they already added sprint racing to the F2 cars in F1 and In F1 , a story mode called Braking Point was added to the game. This was the first time ever that the F1 game featured a long-term story mode. In the final scene of the Braking Point mode in F1 , it was hinted that Casper would be joining one of the three top teams of Formula One in the next season. Only time will tell.
