The easiest way i found of entering the passwords is to have your laptop connected to the onboard switch via a lan cable and be logged on to your router.
Repeat the above step for keys 3 and 4, click apply and with a little luck your DELL utility next to your clock on your taskbar should light up green. You can now disconnect your lan cable and use your internal Truemobile or whatever network card, windows XP has a generic interface for the wireless networks regardless of whether your configuring your TM or another brand of wireless network card.
I hope this puts an end to all you people out there trash talking about the mrv2. If you cant get it working after flashing the router and upgrading the Driver something is wrong with your windows xp. This worked for me, and i have had no problems with it since. You can get into the bios and on the page 3 ,you will have wireless configuration.
I spent quite a bit of time trying to get the TM working with the Netgear MRv2, but the Netgear firmware upgrade that you suggested did the trick. Funny how big of a difference that a little change from v 5.
I have a possibly related issue. I just set up NetGear MRv2. Wireless connection to Inspiron M works for about 30 minutes, then drops out. If I reboot the MRv2, the connection comes back up again, and stays on for about 30 minutes. Have done this several times.
I thought this was a Netgear problem, but today installed wireless access for anoather desktop, and the link to it has stayed up, even though the link to the Inspiron dropped out - so now I'm suspecting the Inspiron. It almost looks like a timeout of some sort. I am using my Netgear wireless as an Access Point it is connected to a linksys wired router. I assume Linksys has a firewall. Now should I still enable WEP for security on my netgear?
